Cathedral Rock Vortex

National Forest
Cathedral Rock

ADA Accessibility Notes

Not wheelchair accessible. Not recommend for individuals with balance issues.

Cathedral Rock is predominantly an Upflow Vortex (especially the 1st half of the trail). Great for soaring and feeling inspired for greater oneness and serenity. The flat area 1/2 way up also has wonderful views of Sedona and the Chapel of the Holy Cross. The top (the saddles between the spires) is one of Sedona's best Combination Vortex (sometimes called Electromagnetic) areas that allow you to do more advanced spiritual skills and deeper forms of meditation.

Pet Friendly Notes

Service animals and leashed pets are allowed, BUT barking animals are not conducive to others' quiet activities.

Recreational Opportunities

The 1st half of the trail is readily accessible for individual contemplation and reflection. If you are only going to this 1st half, the toughest part is getting across the initial wash. After less than 1/2 mile there is a great flat area with spectacular views. The 2nd 1/2 of the trail (to the top) is VERY intense and NOT recommended for anyone with balance issues or not in good shape. Guided visitation to the sites for led spiritual activities and/or yoga requires a Guide that has a Permit with the Red Rock Ranger District, as Cathedral Rock is in the Coconino National Forest.

NOTE: Parking is limited and fills up early. Recommend getting there no later than 9 a.m. or earlier.

Seasons Accessible

Cathedral Rock is accessible all year. In the heat of Summer and the coldest part of Winter bringing a towel or blanket to sit on is recommended.

No fees, BUT Trailhead parking requires the Red Rock Parking Pass or the Federal Interagency Land Pass
