Centennial Plaza Clarkdale, Arizona
ADA Accessibility Notes
ADA accessible
Centennial Plaza was dedicated on July 14, 2012 and commemorates the Town of Clarkdale’s 100 year anniversary. This demonstration permaculture project restored the area in front of the historic Clark Memorial Clubhouse to an attractive community space and includes a newly-installed rainwater harvesting system to collect rain from the parking area in six catchment basins and rain from the Clubhouse roof into 5,100 gallons of cisterns buried alongside the Auditorium. The captured water is delivered to the native and low-water-use trees, shrubs, and perennials. The garden is a marvelous demonstration of the beauty of native desert plants. Brochures identifying the native plants used in the garden are available at the Community and Economic Development Department, 890 Main Street, Clarkdale, Arizona.
At the heart of the Plaza is a courtyard featuring commemorative pavers and benches while providing a pleasant outdoor area.
Information regarding the purchase of commemorative benches, trees, and pavers is available at the Town of Clarkdale Community Development Department at (928) 639-2500.
Two time capsules commemorating the Town's Centennial are buried in the Plaza.
