Since Cottonwood first wooded up in 1917, the Cottonwood Hotel has served the Verde Valley accommodating travelers, spiritualists, bootleggers, gangsters, bank robbers, cowboys and Hollywood Legends like Mae West, George Raft, and John Wayne. This "Wild-West" Prohibition-Era Hotel is the only historic lodging contributing to the National Register Listing "Landmark" in the "Cottonwood Commercial Historic District" of historical places to stay in downtown "Old Town" Cottonwood. It's location was used in several movie sets filmed in the area. Robinson, a previous owner was friends with "Pop" Clanton, a survivor of the Tombstone "OK Corral" shoot-out with the Earp boys. Pop lived in town and use to park his covered wagon in front of Robinson's Clothier Western Wear Store (on the main floor) of the hotel and advertise for its accommodations above. Pops canvas read "Pull in and spend the night, this is a good town!" Pop and his dog who smoked a pipe, entertained the tourists and towns people.

Today the Cottonwood Hotel is a small "Boutique Inn" offering a unique "One-Of-A-Kind" experience. Maintaining its exterior historic integrity, each rooms interiors are updated, themed and share a "trip to the past" with the comforts of today. The well-appointed, hypoallergenic rooms consist of eight units all with their own en suite. The original upper floor hotel consists of one traditional room and original bath, two deluxe queen rooms, and two deluxe queen suites. The main floor has a two bedroom two bath suite, deluxe queen studio suite and a deluxe double queen room. The original balcony overlooks the Old Town area, with views of Sedona on the horizon. In the heart of Old Town the Cottonwood Hotel is a one-stop location. Within steps to a dozen of the most popular restaurants and cafes in the Verde Valley, the largest section of the Verde Valley Wine Trail Wineries Tasting Rooms, along with beer tasting and a distillery tasting facility, a unique array of boutique shops, galleries and antique stores.
