Friends of Oak Creek, Volunteer Task Force
The Friends of Oak Creek operate as the volunteer task force of the Oak Creek Watershed Council in Sedona, Arizona. This group conducts multiple litter cleanup days, educational outreach events in the community and other hands-on workshops that help keep the watershed clean and beautiful. We wish to support tourism by offering visitors an opportunity to volunteer in our community. Volunteering helps deepen visitors' appreciation for the already stunning landscape and rich history of the area. We invite you to join us in our mission to help maintain and sustain the integrity of Oak Creek for future generations to come.
Appropriate Ages for Volunteer Opportunity
All ages welcome
Special Skills that May be Required or Helpful
No special skills required! Must be able to walk on hilly terrain in various weather conditions while collecting litter. During labor intensive workshops, we recommend taking breaks often and being mindful of your health.
Types of Volunteer Work Needed
Each month, we strive to offer at least two litter cleanups in beautiful Oak Creek Canyon. If you wish to participate while on your vacation in the Sedona-Verde Valley area, we can also offer special volunteer opportunities if a member of your group contacts us to set up a time and date. We are continually adding events to our volunteer calendar throughout the year.
Volunteers will enjoy an un-matched, hands-on experience basking in the unique riparian beauty of Oak Creek while helping to keep it beautiful.
Friends of Oak Creek provide trash bags, litter pickers, gloves, safety vests, and maps. We ask that you bring close-toed shoes, sunscreen, a hat and plenty of water.
