Guided Group Kayaking on the Verde River in the Verde Valley

Canoe or Flatwater Kayaking Area
The water is spring fed and is cool and crisp on the Verde River – Al Comello

ADA Accessibility Notes

None, Not recommended.

This is a stretch of the Verde River in the Verde Valley. Two areas are utilized by Verde River Adventures (a local outfitting and river guide company): One is just outside Cottonwood, AZ for a short river trip in an inflatable Kayak called a "Ducky" to the confluence of the Verde River and Oak Creek. Then the boaters walk over to Alcantara Winery for a wine tasting experience. The other section of the river is just south of Camp Verde for a 5 mile guided trip on the Verde River. In both cases, the river is smooth flat water intermixed with sections of fast flowing, but save bubbly water.

Best Access Points

Two access points: For the Water to Wine trip, it is about one mile south of Cottonwood, and for the 5 mile trip, it's about 5 to 10 miles south of Camp Verde.

Eco-Friendly Notes

The crews who work for the Verde River Adventure Company are regularly cleaning the river of log jams and debris which would affect a river experience. The company participates in numerous river ecology programs and organizations.
