Come see thirty Plein Air artists in action, all in one area at one time, as they capture the beauty and charm of Uptown Sedona in the "Main Street Paint Out" on Saturday from 10 am - 12 pm. All of the thirty nationally and regionally recognized Plein Air artists will have their easels set up on the sidewalks and plazas along "Main Street" (SR 89A) in Uptown. They are challenged to create a painting from start to finish within the two hour "Paint Out". Observers will see Sedona through the eyes of the artists, expressed in many different styles using a variety of media. The artist's subject can be the landscape, people, buildings. foliage, vehicles or anything else along the Main Street that captures their imagination.
This free event ends the Sedona Arts Center's annual Sedona Plein Air Festival, an eight day celebration of outdoor painting. The invited artists must be award-winning plein air artists with regional and/or national recognition and current representation in a fine art gallery. Each year approximately thirty percent of the artists are new to the Festival and they all come for all over the United States to share with observers their incredible talent and unique experiences with this challenging art form.
Once the Paint Out time limit is reached, artists quickly frame their works and bring them to the front patio of Sedona Arts Center at the north end of Main Street, for the first opportunity to purchase this year's creations. It is then you have an hour to see all the completed works, and purchase your favorite before the paint is even dry!
This event is sponsored by Sedona Main Street Program in partnership with Sedona Arts Center, to bring together these Plein Air artists, so the public can witness all of them during their creative process, in one place at the same time. You can watch as paintings develop plus meet and interact with the artists at work all along the "Main Street", a fun, unique and accessible place. There is no setting more perfect than Sedona in late October to find vibrant, unexpected scenic beauty. It is truly an artist's paradise!
